Manager., User Interface Design and Visual IdentityLed organization-wide product re-branding effort initiated as a result of the $2.1 Billion acquisition of Rational Software Inc.. Leveraged extensive background experience in marketing to effect smooth brand transitions throughout the product line during and after the corporate transition. Subsequently, personal resources were devoted to management of UI Design within IBM’s new Rational Software Division. Efforts were focused on enhancing the overall user experience of both new and existing products while providing a powerful underlying platform for the IBM brand.
Goals were achieved via the application of best practices in user-centered design, user-interaction design, and brand development.

Creative DirectorCreative Director for one of the world’s largest software companies. Time at Rational was spent constructing an advanced web application design team. Activities included management of interface design within Rational’s product development division, and design oversight for all web-based products and properties. Oversaw development of new UI packages, and made significant improvements to the design, architecture, and usability of legacy products.
Additional contributions include the conception of revolutionary community building tools, virtual software development environments, a ground breaking brand-modular interface system, and an interactive “icon database” designed to organize thousands of functional icons.

Consulting User Interaction DesignerUser Interaction Designer for Silicon Valley based startup NOCpulse. Hired as a consultant to conceptualize a strong visual brand for the product development team and to apply that brand to a series of web interfaces. In parallel to the branding effort, user interaction models and information architecture were constructed for the firm’s primary products. The new interface designs and interaction models were used in the client’s initial release-to-market. Deliverables for this particular project also included an interaction design specification document, a thorough information architecture (based on the firms existing product v0.8), a series of branded web interfaces for integration with a Linux-driven monitoring product, and a set of style guides for both brand and technical specifications.
On Oct.15th, 2002 the company and its product were purchased in whole by RedHat Software. To date, RedHat still leverages the original user interaction designs developed during this period of consultancy.

Senior Product Design ConsultantConsulted with start-up eFORCE to develop corporate website requirements and goals. Advised an in-house marketing team to aid development of new corporate brand standards. Lead efforts to integrate the newly developed brand collateral with v2.0 site design. Managed the project, coordinated efforts of engineers, designers, and content writers. Oversaw site design and structure. Developed an interactive (on-line) project guide to improve flow of information. Translated project scope to developers during development of the database driven back-end.
